Crime Victims’ Rights

Helping victims get answers and compensation
Many crimes are often preventable. If you are the victim of a violent crime, or a loved one was killed during a crime, you need an experienced attorney by your side to fight to hold everyone responsible. As a Florida crime victim rights attorney, I fight to get answers for my clients and pursue civil claims for crime victims. Our goal is to hold everyone who could have prevented the incident accountable.

I have nearly two decades of experience fighting for the rights of victims of sexual assault, rape, molestation, murder, manslaughter, and assault & battery throughout Florida. Many of these crimes could have been prevented if only adequate security and safety measures had been taken. My goal is to fight for you to receive compensation if you were victimized because of the negligence of others.

Samples of crime victim cases we’ve handled
Our Florida victim’s rights lawyers have worked on numerous cases for victims of crime. This includes:

  • Shooting at an ATM

  • Murder in a parking lot
  • Accidental shooting

Going straight to the source to get you justice
If your case is accepted, we typically conduct a thorough investigation to determine whether the crime was foreseeable or preventable. We may look at the crime grids in the area and analyze police data to see whether other crimes have occurred on the property before. We may check to see whether your injuries or a loved one’s death could have been prevented if the landowner provided adequate security. This would include, for example, a bar/club patron who is struck with a bottle during a fight and who sustains injuries, or a store customer who is robbed and killed in the store’s parking lot by unknown assailants. If the property owner has insurance companies and lawyers working for them, there is no reason why you shouldn’t have an attorney fighting for you.

What can a crime victim recover in a civil claim?
A victim of a crime may be entitled to compensation for their injuries. This may include pain and suffering, payment for past and future medical expenses, lost wages and more. If a victim is killed in a shooting or other crime, the victim’s family may be entitled to emotional pain and suffering, funeral expenses, lost support and services, medical expenses of the person who died, and other possible damages.
